The Big Dog Atelier is a metro-Boston-based multidisciplinary design studio, involved primarily in the study and design of buildings, spaces and objects. Its dual focus is on the process of design and the craft of building, and the mindful relationship between the two. The goal of The Big Dog Atelier is to produce designs that are conceptually rigorous, thoughtfully detailed, experientially rich, and holistic unto themselves and their environs. It seeks to engage itself in projects that propose a benefit to the user or community, offer an opportunity to develop tectonically or experientially dynamic elements that enhance the design as a whole, and challenge the designers to develop a compelling concept to unite a design.
BIG DOGS
Michael Bellefeuille
A graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology (M.Arch. '08), Michael is currently an intern architect in the detail-focused office of Adolfo Perez, Architect. In this capacity as well as in his personal projects, he has developed a keen understanding of and interest in thoughtfully designed buildings, with a careful attention to the details and connections that strengthen a design and the experience of a project. His design interests include pragmatic but deliberate work that addresses social and environmental needs in an economical, practical and considerate manner.
Ryan N. Edwards
Also a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology (M.Arch. '08), Ryan has an extensive background in wood-frame residential construction, having worked as a carpenter's apprentice for a number of highly regarded builders in the state of Vermont. In addition to his work with BDA, Ryan is currently a designer at LineSync Architecture, a full-size, award-winning architecture firm based in southern Vermont.
